Arkansas Energy Programs You Didn’t Know About

For this week’s article, I thought that I would share our knowledge of the many energy programs here in Arkansas. Some are more popular than others but all are still excellent. The following programs are for residential properties only.

Entergy Solutions Program

About: Entergy Arkansas offers a variety of simple ways to help you lower your monthly Entergy bill. In some cases you can receive cash incentives and rebates to help you improve the energy efficiency of your home. The program has incentives for the energy audit and specific improvements such as insulation, air sealing, duct sealing, and HVAC replacements. Visit the Entergy Solutions website for more information.

For Who: Entergy customers that own a home that is at least a year old and has central heat and air.

SWEPCO’s Residential Energy Efficiency Program

About: This program is very similar to Entergy Solutions Program. It offers rebates for the quality installation of eligible products and services that improve the energy efficiency and comfort of the existing homes of SWEPCO residential customers. These rebates are designed to reduce the initial costs associated with energy-efficient home improvements such as insulation, air sealing, and duct sealing. Visit their website for more information.

For Who: SWEPCO customers that own a home that is at least a year old and has central heat and air.

Coolsavers Program AC Tune-Up Program

About: Entergy Arkansas offers the CoolSaver Program for residential customers. It helps you improve the efficiency of your air conditioner or heat pump through a high-efficiency A/C tune-up performed by a participating contractor. In 2013, Residential Entergy customers who participated in CoolSaver saved an average of $117 a year per air conditioner and increased the cooling output of their system. Visit their website for more information.

For Who: All Entergy Arkansas residential customers with a valid account number and whose central air conditioning systems are at least one year old. If your AC has received a CoolSaver Tune-up in the past five years, you are not eligible for incentives.

SourceGas Residential Program

About: SourceGas is offering incentives to its customers for water heater or heating equipment upgrades/replacements with incentives ranging from $50 to $600. Here’s the website for more information.

For Who: Any SourceGas customer replacing their water heater or heating equipment with qualified high-efficiency equipment.

CenterPoint Residential Program

About: This program is very similar to the SourceGas program above. It provides incentives for high-efficiency water heaters and heating systems (natural gas only). For more information, visit their website.

For Who: CenterPoint Energy customers replacing their water heater or heating equipment with qualified high-efficiency equipment.

Weatherization Assistance Program

About: This program helps low-income households reduce their heating and cooling bills by providing full-scale home energy conservation services.  Services provided by the program result in a more comfortable, safe home and a permanent improvement in the lives of occupants. The program is operational year round.

After a household is determined eligible, the local agency schedules an energy inspection of the home.  A DOE trained Energy Auditor completes a full inspection of the energy and health and safety concerns of the home and completes a Work Order/Job Write-Up.  A network of Community Action Agencies (CAA’s) use crews or local private-sector weatherization contractors to complete the work at no cost to the occupants. For more information, visit their website.

For Who: Low-income households within the eligible counties for the WAP program.

Elevate Workplace Program

About: Elevate, a non-profit located in Little Rock, partners with employers to offer their employees energy upgrades for their homes. This is completed by Entergy-approved contractors with Elevate acting as a quality control, third party on behalf of the homeowner. This program may include an energy audit, AC tune-up, insulation, air sealing, duct sealing, and HVAC replacements.

For Who: Any employers who are based out of central Arkansas within Entergy service area with a minimum of 10 employees. Please call (800) 780-4444 for more information.
